Nursing care is available to every resident 24 hours per day to assist the residents with Activities of Daily Living eg., bathing, mobilizing, grooming, etc. Registered Nurses and Registered Practical Nursing staff provide assessments of the resident, medication administration and prescribed treatments. The services of the professional team members (i.e. physiotherapist, occupational therapist, social worker and dietitian) are available upon request. Some disciplines may require an order from the physician.
The health care team will meet with the resident and family soon after admission and on an annual basis to develop the resident’s plan of care together. The family conference may be scheduled more frequently or if condition changes to warrant a review at the request of the resident/family or members of the interdisciplinary team.
The resident/family is encouraged to speak with a team member regarding needs and preferences as they arise. The team member will act as an advocate on their behalf.
An assessment for mobility or special chairs will be completed by an occupational Therapist upon referral from Community Care Access Centre. The resident/family is responsible for their share of payment for theses.
Other health services, such as referrals to the specialist’s clinics, are done on the order of the physician. The above services are covered by OHIP.
