We, at St. Joseph’s Manor Elliot Lake, realize that changes in life can be a very stressful time and that many questions need to be answered. It is our hope that this information will help you understand the process of admission and will provide the needed explanations in regards to the services available at St. Joseph’s Manor and a description of the accommodations.
The staff at St. Joseph’s Manor is connected to St. Joseph’s General Hospital via a tunnel. To be eligible for admission to St’ Joseph’s Manor, Assessment Forms must be completed and sent to the Algoma Community care access Centre. After the Algoma Community Care Access Centre has determined your eligibility for a nursing home bed your application is forwarded to St. Joseph’s Manor. Your application will once again be reviewed and if suitable your name will be placed on a waiting list until a bed becomes available.
St. Joseph’s Manor offers three types of accommodations:
A) Standard
B) Private
Each Accommodation has a different daily/monthly rate as set out by the Ontario Government. The Ministry of Health and Long Term Care sets and issues directives for room rates and provides guidelines for geared-to-income fees.

Financial Obligations
In The Event that the resident is unable to manage their own finances and no substitute is available, their estate will be referred to the Public Guardian & Trustee.
The required monthly amount is calculated using a table supplied by the Ministry of health, and varies from resident to resident according to income. In order to calculate your monthly payment, we will require a copy of your Notice of
Assessment from Revenue Canada for previous year.

Bed Holding
A bed at St. Joseph’s Manor can be held for a new resident to a maximum of Five (5) days after it is offered. A holding fee will be charged.
1st 24 hours To decide if they want the bed or not.
2nd 24hours Resident accommodation charge.
3rd, 4th, & 5th 24 hour periods
Resident accommodation charge, nursing and personal care and programming per diem, in addition to charges from previous days.
The bed holding fee also applies when leaves of absence are exceeded.
