 Palliative Care Minimize

Elliot Lake Palliative Care Program is a separate entity with its own board of directors.  The mission of the Elliot Lake Palliative Care Program is to assist clients by providing a trained, caring, friendly volunteer to support them and their family during the palliative stage of terminal illness.  Following a careful selecting procedure, volunteers attend a 30 hour training program in which they receive instructions in the Palliative Care Philosophy, skills in effective communication, coping with stress and dealing with the bereavement process.  Volunteers are active in both the community and the Hospital and offer bereavement support services.  Contact the Administrator of the Palliative Care Program at 848-7182, ext. 2235 for more information.
