 St. Joseph's Manor Minimize

St. Joseph’s Manor

St. Joseph’s Manor opened in November, 2002.  It is a 64 bed Long Term Care Facility physically adjoining the Hospital.  Individuals must be assessed by the Community Care Access Centre Coordinator and qualify under the Ministry of Health and Long term Care Guidelines to take advantage of the services provided.  Accommodations rates are set by the provincial government and are geared to income.  Many private insurance companies cover some expenses related to long term care facilities.

Admission Process

Community Care Access Center facilitates all admissions to St. Joseph’s Manor.  The individual/Power of Attorney/family member contacts the local office, and an assessment is arranged. After the assessment has been completed, the application is forwarded to SJM, at which time the Administrator/DOC determines eligibility.

At this point the individual is either accepted or declined. Either way, a letter is sent to the applicant providing details on acceptance/refusal.  The individual is then placed on the waiting list by CCAC.  Once a bed becomes available at SJM, CCAC determines the next eligible applicant for admission.  The applicant has 24 hours to accept or decline the offer, after which an admission date is determined.

If you are interested in applying for Long-term Care with SJM, please contact your local CCAC.

Long Term Care Beds

St. Joseph’s Manor’s Long Term Care beds provide a home like environment for individuals whose daily care requirements are too extensive to be met in the community by family and professional caregivers.  Your physician continues to provide your medical care.

The Recreation Department provides high quality leisure experiences that meet the social, emotional, physical, cognitive and spiritual needs of all residents.  Therapeutic programs are offered both within the facility and the community by qualified staff.

Tours can be arranged by calling 848-1443 to book an appointment.

Visiting hours

Visiting hours are flexible however, after 11a.m. would be appreciated.  If visiting extends past 8:30p.m., please inform the nurse of your arrival and departure.  Relatives and friends are encouraged to visit.  Please use proper discretion when visiting residents in their room.

“The best way to find yourself, is to lose yourself in the service of others.”
