The Oaks Drug and Rehabilitation Centre

 

The Oaks Centre is an accredited treatment facility operated by St. Joseph’s General Hospital.  It is comprised of two services: Withdrawal Management (Detox) and residential treatment programs (Camillus).  The Oaks Centre is a co-ed facility and it is handicapped accessible.  Both the Detox and Camillus receives professional support from a Certified Medical Addiction Specialist.  Rehabilitation treatment beds are available as private, semi-private and as ward units.

 

Other ancillary service providers housed at the Oaks Centre are:

  • Algoma Community Care Access Centre
  • Counselling Centre of East Algoma

     

    Withdrawal Management Services (Detox)

     

    The primary mission of withdrawal management is to offer non-medical crisis intervention, detoxification, and stabilization to Ontario residents 16 years of age and older.

     

    Withdrawal management accepts referral from numerous sources including the medical professionals, the legal system, families and friends, and self.  Potential residents must be medically stable, non-violent, lucid, and not suffering from an active psychiatric disorder.  The tapering program offered by the Medical Addiction Specialist has received much recognition from the Employee Assistance Programs across the province.

     

    Amenities include handicapped accessible rooms and a self-contained unit for individuals who wishes anonymity from other residents or visitor.

    Residential Treatment Services (Camillus Centre)

     

    The residential treatment services offered the following programs:

    • Young Adult Chemical Dependency Program
    • Adult Chemical Dependency Program
    • Family / Co-dependency Program

     

    Chemical Dependency Program

    The applicant’s admission information will be assessed by a team to ensure the participant is physically, emotionally, and psychologically able to participate actively in all phases of the program.  The applicant may be required to provide, prior to admission, a doctor's letter indicating phychological stability.

     

    Each client with his/her counselor identifies problems to be addressed during / following treatment and develops a treatment plan, with target dates to resolve the problems.  Each client is required to participate actively in his/her program of recovery.

     

    Family / Co-dependency Program

    This program is designed to assist men and women suffering from the effects of another person’s chemical dependency, a spouse or other family member who is recovering or is still a practicing alcoholic.

     

    The family program addresses the physical, emotional, social and spiritual aspects of co-dependency.  It features lectures, videos, group therapy and one-to-one counseling sessions.

     

    The applicant’s admission information will be assessed by a team to ensure the participant is physically, emotionally, and psychologically able to participate actively in all phases of the program.  The applicant may be required to provide, prior to admission, a doctor's letter indicating phychological stability.
